Description

Glass fiber G10 is a composite material made of woven fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin that is known for its strength, durability, and chemical resistance: 

• Composition

G10 is made by soaking layers of woven fiberglass cloth in epoxy resin and then compressing the material under heat until the epoxy cures.

• Properties

G10 is stronger than other synthetic materials like fiberglass, phenolic, or balsa wood. It has high electrical and thermal isolation, low water absorption, and is resistant to corrosion. Some versions of G10 are also flame retardant.

• Applications

G10 is used in a variety of applications, including:

• • Insulators and bushings: G10’s dielectric properties make it a good choice for insulators and bushings used in power generation and distribution.

• • Knife handles: G10’s strength, lightweight nature, and resistance to chemicals and moisture make it a good choice for knife handles.

G10’s rigidity makes it easy to machine using traditional machining methods.

G10 is a fiberglass-epoxy composite material with many properties, including:

• Strength: G10 has high tensile, flexural, and dielectric strength. For example, it has a tensile strength of 40,000 psi, a compressive strength of 65,000 psi, and a flexural strength of 75,000 psi.
• Chemical resistance: G10 is resistant to chemicals, moisture, oxygen, heat, and UV light.
• Electrical properties: G10 has excellent electrical properties.
• Insulation: G10 is a good insulator. For example, G10-CR has a low thermal conductivity value of 7.0 x 10-4 calories/second/cm2/ (°C/cm).
• Temperature resistance: G10 can resist thermal shock and has a maximum temperature of 140° Celsius (284° Fahrenheit).
• Density: G10 has a density of 1.80 g/cc.
• Water absorption: G10 has a water absorption of 0.10%.
