Description

A POM rod, or polyoxymethylene rod, is a solid, cylindrical bar made from an engineering thermoplastic called polyoxymethylene (POM):

POM rods are also known as acetal or Delrin rods. They are used in a variety of industries, including: Electrical and electronic devices, General wear parts, Jigs and fixtures, Moulds, and Sliding rails

Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, has many properties that make it suitable for a range of industrial and commercial applications:

  • Strength: POM is known for its high strength, stiffness, and hardness.
  • Rigidity: POM is rigid down to -40°C.
  • Dimensional stability: POM has excellent dimensional stability.
  • Low friction: POM has a low coefficient of friction, making it ideal for components that require sliding or rotating movements.
  • Resistance: POM is resistant to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures.
  • Electrical properties: POM has good electrical insulating and dielectric properties.
  • Water absorption: POM has low water absorption, generally 0.2%-0.5%.
  • Machinability: POM has excellent machinability.
  • Food contact: Some grades of POM are suitable for food contact.
  • Color: POM is opaque white due to its high crystalline composition, but it can be produced in a variety of colors.
  • Density: POM has a density of 1.410–1.420 g/cm3.
