Description

Teflon PTFE filled materials are materials made by adding fillers to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), also known as Teflon, to improve its properties:

  • Glass filled PTFE

Improves dimensional stability and creep resistance compared to virgin PTFE. It’s often used to make bearings that work at low pressure and velocity.

  • Carbon/graphite-filled PTFE

Has good wear resistance and extrusion resistance. It works well in lubricated and non-lubricated environments.

  • Stainless steel-filled PTFE

Has good compressive strength and abrasion resistance. It’s often used for seals and seats that require high heat and steam applications.

PTFE is a non-stick material with many properties that make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Chemical resistance: PTFE is chemically unreactive and indissoluble
  • Temperature resistance: PTFE can resist large temperature changes, with a short-term temperature range of up to 300 °C.
  • Low friction: PTFE has a very low coefficient of friction
  • Low surface tension: PTFE has a very low surface tension, so it’s difficult to adhere to or weld.

Flame resistance: PTFE is flame resistant
